About Christine

Hey! I'm Christine - and yes, I spend most of my time hanging out with people who don't exist (yet!). When I'm not chatting with historical heroines in my head or dreaming up their next adventure, you'll find me digging through dusty archives or sipping tea while my characters decide what kind of trouble they're getting into next.

I have this thing about bringing forgotten stories to light, especially the amazing women from history who never got their moment in the spotlight. Sometimes these stories end up on the big screen, sometimes they curl up in the pages of a novel, but they always start with that same little spark of "wait until you hear about her!"

Bio

Christine A. Baker is an award-winning storyteller, speaker, and lifelong animal lover whose work explores the quiet magic woven into everyday life—the resilience we discover in loss, and the extraordinary ways animals shape our journeys.

She is the author of Why She Plays: The World of Women’s Basketball (University of Nebraska Press, 2018), a groundbreaking book that gives voice to female athletes and celebrates their passion for the game. Her work has earned recognition including the Wesleyan University Rulewater Prize and Mount Saint Mary College Distinguished Alumni Award, and she has received multiple screenplay honors, including Sundance Screenwriters Institute Top 10 Finalist. Her screenplays have garnered festival selections and industry acclaim.

Christine’s storytelling spans genres, but is always rooted in themes of connection, healing, and the courage to live authentically.

Her novel Raising Artemis (Roundfire Books 2026) is her most personal work to date—a luminous story of grief, renewal, and purpose, narrated by a beloved cat speaking from beyond. Inspired by the real animals who have shaped her life, the book explores the profound, intuitive bond between humans and animals, and the ways they guide us back to ourselves.

She lives along the Connecticut shoreline, where she can be found tending her garden, walking near the water, or sharing her home with animals who, more often than not, have the last word.
